Intern fermentation process development for microbial proteins
Note: the project has a duration of 6-7 months, where 7 months are preferred. The start date is flexible. The work will be mainly conducted at the facilities of Farmless at the Amsterdam Science Park.
The Role
At Farmless, we're offering an exciting internship opportunity where you help shape the future of food production. We are looking for a motivated Fermentation Process Development Intern who will support us in improving the fermentation process. During this internship you will work closely with our experienced team. Dive into the heart of sustainable protein innovation!
Responsibilities
As an intern at Farmless, your core responsibilities include:
Run batch and fed-batch fermentations in bioreactors for the production of microbial biomass and other products.
Optimize the operational parameters to maximise biomass productivity and yield by using online sensor measurements and offline analyses.
Investigate the relationship between operational conditions, biomass composition, and biochemicals formation.
Calculate the mass balance during the process and other fermentation performance parameters (yield, productivities, dry cell weight).
Requirements
We're looking for candidates with:
Background in biological engineering, biotechnology, biochemical engineering or related areas
Experienced in working in a microbiology lab, aseptic handlings, analyses
Hands on experience with bioreactors
Team player skills with excellent English proficiency
We only hire interns that need to do a mandatory internship for university
