About Farmless

At Farmless we’re brewing amino acid complete proteins without agricultural land. We’re creating a new interface between food and energy by selecting nutritious microbes that taste great and can grow on renewable energy-based feedstocks. Our fermentation platform is up to 5000 times more land efficient than animals, which allows humanity to free up vast amounts of land, rewild our planet and draw down gigatons of carbon.

Role

As a Principal Software Engineer you will be responsible for all software development within Farmless, starting with expanding our platform BrewBase. In this role you will need to master what we’re doing on a physics and biology level and then build the right software around it. This is an exciting opportunity for full stack developers who want to apply their skills to building truly revolutionary infrastructure from scratch with a Haber-Bosch level impact on the world.

Responsibilities

• Architect and expand BrewBase, our custom built platform (Tech stack: Supabase, React, Typescript, Next.js, ShadeCn, OpenSearch and more)

• Visualise and integrate data from different sources

• Automate internal processes through programming

• Write software for our new fermentation tanks in PLCs

• Integrate tank physics and modelling into BrewBase

• Generate actionable insights for our team, come up with your own ideas what can be automated

Requirements

• Proven track record in outstanding software engineering

• Full stack developer experienced in Typescript, comfortable with SQL and NoSQL

• You love to learn and dive into fermentation, harvesting, food, modelling and more

• Our mission of revolutionising food production truly excites you

Bonus experience:

• Modelling physical systems

• Background in biology, fermentation, food or physics

• Worked in (deep tech) startup

• Programming PLCs in industrial applications (including OPC)

• Data visualisation

• Machine learning
