We're looking for bold hackers and tinkerers to help us build the protein breweries of tomorrow.
This role is for people who build stuff in their garage, who can't resist taking things apart to see how they work, and who enjoy solving hard problems at the intersection of hard and software.
You'll work across our entire technical stack: from designing custom fermentation hardware to building digital infrastructure for our first factories. If you're equally comfortable with a soldering iron and a code editor, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Work On
Our technical challenges span multiple domains. You'll have the freedom to dive deep into where you create the most impact.
Software Engineering
Expand BrewBase, our in-house data platform
Build digital infrastructure for our first production facilities
Integrate sensors, PLCs, and custom hardware into unified systems
Hardware & Control Systems
Design custom bioprocess and fermentation control systems from scratch
Build industrial automation solutions using both custom and industry-standard tools
Design and prototype fermentation and downstream processing hardware
Program microcontrollers and implement control algorithms for our pilot scale facility
Electrical & Mechanical Engineering
Design PCBs and electrical systems for bioprocess control
Work on mechanical systems for fermentation tanks and processing equipment
Integrate sensors, actuators, and control systems
Requirements
Builder Mentality: You've actually built things. Side projects, garage experiments, hobby electronics, open source contributions. Show us what you've made!
Technical Versatility: You’re comfortable moving between hard and software. Your background might include embedded systems, full stack development, electrical engineering, mechanical design, industrial automation, or control theory. We value curiosity and the ability to learn new domains quickly.
Learn Fast, Ship Faster: We're building novel technology in a fast-moving startup. You need to be able to learn quickly and ship working solutions.
Mission Driven: Our goal of making food production dramatically more sustainable truly excites you.
Bonus Experience
Full stack development (TypeScript, React, databases)
Embedded systems and microcontroller programming
PCB design and electrical engineering
Industrial automation and SCADA systems
PLC programming and OPC protocols
Welding or hands-on mechanical fabrication
Control theory and physical system modelling
CAD and mechanical design
Bioprocess engineering or fermentation
Prior (deep tech or hardware) startup experience
We genuinely don't care about credentials. We want to see what you've built and what you can do.
We are based in Amsterdam and will relocate exceptional people from anywhere.
